As a Warehouse Operative you will be working both alone and part of a team with efficiency and commitment to complete work and strive to maintain the business performance targets. The role best suits upbeat and self-motivated individuals who enjoy working systematically and productively.

This varied role can involve a substantial amount of manual handling including bending stooping, stepping, reaching, and lifting. Having a good range of mobility is important to ensure you can work safely within health and safety regulations without placing undue strain on your body.

Position:       Warehouse Operative

Location:      West Bank Drive, Belfast

Department: Warehouse

Responsible to: Warehouse Manager

Hours of Work: Full-time (with shift patterns)

Main Purpose of the Job

  • Assist with the movement of goods within the warehouse.
  • Unpack, check and store goods received from suppliers.
  • Pick, pack and despatch customer orders.
  • Pre-pack goods and bill of materials.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Carry out forklift truck driving duties to assist with the movement of goods within the warehouse in accordance with the company Forklift Truck Operator safety code.

2. Take receipt of goods from suppliers.

3. Take receipt of returns.

4. Unpack and check goods received from suppliers against purchase orders.

5. Unpack, check and advise Team Leader of customer returns.

6. Advise Team Leader of short deliveries and discrepancies.

7. Pre-Pack goods into specified quantities and packaging.

8. Pick and assemble bill of materials.

9. Plan and carry out safe, efficient and logical storage of goods.

10. Always Ensure the security of warehouse stock.

11. Pick goods for customer orders and attend to any special requirements.

12. Pack goods for customer orders and label as required.

13. Achieve set targets for packing customer orders.

14. Complete despatch documentation for carriers.

15. Despatch orders according to their status.

16. Keep workplace, shelves, and racks, clean, safe and tidy.

17. Complete warehouse reports.

18. Cooperate with the company on health and safety matters and comply with the company health and safety policy and procedures.

19. Carry out any other related duties, within reason, as requested by company

Management.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications/Experience

  • Must hold a current reach forklift truck licence and have relevant experience in

operating this type of forklift truck within a similar warehouse environment.

  • Holding a licence for both a reach and counterbalance forklift truck is desirable.
  • Must have the ability to carry out manual handling duties.
  • The ability to work as part of a team, with a flexible ‘can do’ attitude to work, and a good work ethic is essential.
  • The ability to use, with training, a Warehouse Management System which includes handheld devices and barcode scanners.
  • Warehouse experience is desirable, although full training will be provided in the

company systems and processes.

  • Willing to achieve an NVQ Level 2 in Storage & Warehousing, if offered the opportunity.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Computer skills would be advantageous.
